My wife and I are in our mid 40s and just got back from a one week trip t the Barcelo. For some reason the package that we got was in the mid week. It really helped a lot because the first few days there were no people at the resort well at least it was about 35% full. We really wanted to go and see the ruins at tulum and this is a great resort to do that. It's about 25 miles from Tulum. Renting a car is a really great way to go for this if you don't get an air and hotel package. it's just much nicer to get to the ruins when you want and the roads have improved a lot in the last few years. Getting to the hotel by yourself is really easy as it's marked quite well of the 307 highway. The parking at the hotel is free inlcuding valet but it's just as easy to park your own car here. The owners of this hotel really do keep it well, the grounds are awesome and the interior of the resort is in great shape. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
